Attracting media coverage
Focus on one issue at a time. Make it fun, relevant, memorable and achievable. Worthy actions don’t generate much interest! Get celebrities on your side and brief them well. Attract media interest with well-written and brief press releases and create photo opportunities for the media to increase the chances of them covering your story. Have a back-up photographer with a decent camera in case they don’t turn up on time!
A number of experienced organisations have plenty of experience of dealing with the media and sometimes provide useful training and tips, often as part of other training inputs.
