Community Groups
Bringing people together to form groups is a positive way of helping people respond to this major challenge in our lives. Group support encourages each individual to work towards a goal – individuals are not alone in making adjustments to lifestyle patterns.
Much of our future response will focus on ‘local’, and what we as a group or community can do together. This could include producing food, sharing transport, measuring carbon footprints, recycling and sharing resources and equipment. The scope could also be wider; for example advocating for improved public transport, developing entertainment and leisure facilities or forming a lobby group to address a particular issue.
The term ‘group’ doesn’t have to imply any kind of formal set up. A regular chat in the pub, someone's home, church or working lunch can be an effective way of bringing people together.
