Wood pellet boilers
Wood pellet boilers are becoming more widely available, as are sources of wood pellets in the UK. Wood pellet boilers are fed by large hoppers and most run automatically. The boiler burns pellets at very high temperatures, heating a large tank of water that supplies the heating system. Once the tank is heated to a thermostatically controlled temperature, the boiler cuts out, kicking in again only when more heat is required.
Wood pellet boilers are ideal for larger buildings, blocks of flats, schools, hotels but can also be used for individual homes. There are some good smaller household boilers available (Italian designers seem to be leading the way here).
