Tips on installing wood stoves
If wood stoves are placed in a fireplace, the mantel will probably need raising. Flues can go up into a chimney or be routed from behind (if there is no chimney present). Chimneys will need lining and for best results insulated with vermiculite, to avoid heat loss and encourage better airflow and combustion. The installation of wood stoves may be covered by building regulations in your area. Work should be carried out by a registered installer or inspected to ensure it meets building regulations.
If a back boiler is wanted, a large tank and at least one small radiator (as a heat sink) will be required. Check the heating requirements carefully before selecting the size of stove. When a back boiler is installed, the stove will not burn quite so efficiently, so it is important to run the selected stove at or near capacity for effective burning.
