Christian Focus
Christians have generally been slow to put climate change at the top of their priorities. Many believe that God gave us stewardship of this earth and its resources, allowing us to make the best use of the earth’s resources, even if that includes exploiting them beyond sustainable means. This term, stewardship, has many interpretations and others would argue it is better to regard it as meaning holding in trust – for future generations.
We are slow to express real love and appreciation for the creation that God rejoices in – a crucial reason for showing concern about the damage climate change is causing this fragile earth.
