Bus and coach travel
Travelling by coach is one of the most efficient means of travel in terms of carbon emissions. However for distance travel, it has a number of disadvantages, most of which centre around the fact that fast intercity travel is combined with very slow travel through congested city centres to reach coach centres.
Though not as efficient as long distances coaches, city buses are also generally low in emissions per person. Little used bus services, particularly rural buses, result in higher emissions per person.
