Food – meat production
For every kilogram of intensive beef produced, around 10-15 kilos of cereal grains are used in producing the livestock feed. For every kilo of intensive poultry produced around 5 to 6 Kilos of cereal grains will have been used. Free range poultry or livestock such as lamb is produced using little or no cereal grains.
We should generally aim to cut back on meat intake, especially of meats raised or finished on grains such as most beef, chicken and pork. The world could feed many more people if we all ate less meat.
