Fossil fuel based transport
Modern lifestyles assume the ability to travel around not just our own country, but also the world with ease. For speed and comfort those journeys generally assume car and/or plane travel. An assessment of the relative carbon emissions of different transport systems show these assumptions are very damaging in terms of overall emissions. Transport accounts for around a third of the average personal carbon emissions and is clearly an area where major reductions can be made for most individuals. In addition there are major concerns over continued global oil supplies.
