Offsetting
One approach to reducing your carbon footprint is to offset some of the carbon you consume by ‘paying’ for organisations to ‘use up’ carbon on your behalf. This may be done in a variety of ways such as planting trees, conserving existing forests, providing renewable energy or by providing efficient cooking stoves in the South. There are a number of large organisations providing these services, particularly targeting businesses.
